![]() Otherwise the horn is in very nice shape. ![]() There are a few dings in the instrument, notably on the the first branch before the bottom bow and a patch on the compensating 2nd valve slide. Included is a custom "terra-cotta" leather gig bag Glenn Cronkhite personally made for me which I absolutely adore. I'm also trying to downsize my personal hoarding tendencies of instruments… so I offer up my special euphonium to its next caretaker to love and cherish it as much as I have. Why am I selling it… I'll probably regret it as these are incredibly rare instruments but I'm leaning more towards non compensating rotary valve euphoniums these days and with my Alexander 151 now in my rotation this Willson doesn't see as much use as it did previously and that's a shame. Willson made a model similar to this one now called the model 2975 but its a bit different from these originals and now discontinued. Intonation is excellent and it has an amazingly vibrant sound. The valve buttons have been replaced with larger ones to make it look even more tenor tuba like. I always liked playing this instrument on tenor tuba parts (it's played The Planets, Ein Heldenleben, Holst Suites, Bydlo, Janacek Sinfonietta and lots of studio sessions) and both I and the tuba players love that the bell faces to the left like a tuba. Interestingly, the valve tubing all goes up on this design which means you never get water gurgles. It is a large bore euphonium, takes a bass trombone shank mouthpiece, 4 front piston valves, compensating system, satin silver finish, Bob Reeves valve alignment. This is one of those early models, showing serial number 19. ![]() Designed in the 1970s, Fred Marzan worked with Swiss maker Willson on a line of euphoniums and tubas with unique design features both sonically and ergonomically. ![]() One of my personal instruments, I've had this euphonium in my collection for over 20 years and it is a very special one. ![]() Original Willson Marzan Compensating 4 valve Euphonium ![]()
